A little place we like to call RALEIGH!!!

On Flat Stanley's last few days with us, we decided to take him to a few landmarks that are significant to Raleigh. Flat Stanley told me he was up all night and he couldn't sleep a wink because he was so excited about our trip. Our first expedition landed us in Moore Square which is right in the middle of downtown.

We showed him the famous Big Acorn. It was built in 1992 and represents the city of oaks (Raleigh). Every New Year's Eve, the Acorn is lifted up and drops when the New Year arrives. Flat Stanley tried to take a bite out of it and I think he might have chipped a tooth. He didn't realize it was made out of copper and steel. He might need to see a dentist once he arrives back to Ohio.
Kelsey wanted a close up picture with Flat Stanley. She made sure to give him another (remember, she LOVES Flat Stanley) big smooch for the photo. Don't worry, we gave him a good bath that night.

Afterwards we drove to the next landmark. Flat Stanley got a little car sick, so he stuck his head out the window to get some fresh air...poor fella!
Here Flat Stanley is in front of The North Carolina State University Bell tower. The bell tower was constructed to honor the NCSU Alumni that perished in World War I and World War II. When a major sporting event is won by the school the tower turns red. Flat Stanley really liked hearing the history of the bell tower. It was his favorite!
Finally, we ate lunch and then did a little shopping. We went to Target because we just LOVE that place. Flat Stanley ran up and down the escalator at the store. I had to catch him to get him to stop. I didn't want him to get hurt.
We walked down all the aisles and once we arrived at the children's clothing, Flat Stanley gave us a fashion show. He tried on almost 25 outfits. This was his favorite. It said "I Get my Muscles From my Dad!" How funny!
Flat Stanley was very interested in the smiley face toys. He begged for the new Mr. Bump. He was so mad when we told him he couldn't get it because it wouldn't fit in his suitcase home, that he threw a little tantrum. Where would he learn such a thing?
As we left Target, we came upon a water fountain. Flat Stanley wanted to jump in, but I stopped him by reminding him that I didn't' have any change in clothes for him. Flat Stanley ended up throwing in a coin and making a wish. We tried to get him to tell us, but he wouldn't. He said if he would have told us, it wouldn't come true. I guess he was right.

Today was full of information about North Carolina's capital. Flat Stanley learned so much and we were glad to share these special places with him.
Flat Stanley has been with us for almost 2 weeks now. We have spent many wonderful adventures with him and hate to see him leave. He has been such a huge help around the house and so friendly to everyone he comes in contact with. Please take care of him when he gets back to Ohio. We hope he had fun and maybe he can come see us again this summer :) Today is a sad, sad day. We love you buddy!
Love,
Aunt Candy
